For reasons not yet completely known to me, the server that hosts this site booted to single-user mode yesterday evening around 22:21 (CET). Until I rebooted the machine this morning at around 07:15, this site was unavailable.

I believe that the downtime was caused by a faulty disk, which (if that turns out to be the cause) will have to be replaced.
